Winter Lodge Wedding in Crosslakes, MN

If there was one thing I took away from Kirsten and Kevin’s wedding, it’s that their family and friends love them so much. Not only did they travel to a winter lodge wedding in the middle of Minnesota’s coldest weekend, but they also showed so much joy while celebrating with the couple! Every single person was so excited to be there to see them get married!

There was a common theme from listening to their family throughout the day. Kirsten and Kevin met at a dog park in Fargo, ND, which you may remember from their engagement photos. Both of them told their family that they had met someone special at a dog park. However, from there, no one recalls a time before Kevin fit in perfectly with Kirsten’s family and the same with Kirsten! They both love spending time with each other and with their family and friends. I even heard a rumor that Kirsten took up golf for Kevin! Now if that isn’t true love, I don’t know what is!

Kirsten and Kevin’s choice of a Minnesota lodge venue was perfect considering the below zero temperatures outside. The amazing wedding venue, Whitefish Lodge, has huge windows that make you feel like you are in the woods, but also fireplaces that kept the wedding warm throughout the ceremony and reception. It was the best of both worlds and such a unique venue!

Speaking of below zero temperatures, it was only -10 degrees out when we took outdoor pictures. There is nothing I love more than adventurous couples on their wedding day! Kirsten and Kevin knew what they were getting into with a January wedding, but I don’t think they expected it to be quite that cold!  Thankfully, they were still ready for outdoor photos!  We grabbed some hand warmers, snow boots, and some warm vehicles and headed out. We had to take plenty of warm-up breaks, but the photos are so worth it!  Kirsten and Kevin look amazing against the snow and pine trees.  And the best part, you can see their breath in a lot of the photos which just shows how cold it actually was!
