Hello there! My name is Alecs and I am so excited that you found my blog! Now it's time to cuddle up with your favorite furry friend, mine is my cat Goof, and start reading!
My husband and I dreamed of going to Iceland since before we got married. We originally wanted it to be our honeymoon, but we didn’t have the ability to go at that time. Then we were planning the trip in early 2020 for the summer, but obviously that did not work either! Eventually we found the perfect time to go in the fall of 2021. Now, I am finally finding the time to go through the thousands of photos I took during our trip so I can share my favorites!
Our first day we arrived around 6:00am in Iceland, which is 1:00am our usual time. We knew we had to find close adventures to go on because I would definitely fall asleep in the car. First up we went to the Bridge Between Continents and watched the sunrise. Since our flight landed so early, this was the first time we saw Iceland in the daylight! It was an amazing introduction to the country with dark black rocks and a bridge between the two tectonic plates.
Next up we went to the Blue Lagoon and relaxed in the warm water. The hot showers and the relaxing water was exactly what we needed after the long flight. The sun was shining and we were ready to explore! Reykjavik, the capitol of Iceland, was a little under an hour away and our next destination.
We arrived in the capitol, found some lunch, and spent the rest of the day walking around the city! It is such a unique city, and I love all the colorful buildings! The first day had some of the best weather we would experience for our entire trip. It was sunny, a little cool, and the perfect weather to explore a new place. We went to the top of the church for the best view, had cinnamon rolls as a snack, and bought a wool blanket!
We barely made it to 9:00pm that night before going to sleep, ready to explore on day 2!
