A Story About My Husband and Myself – Part 1

I love asking my couples how they met. It’s such a great way to learn more about them. Whether it was at a dog park or in college, I think it tells a lot about their individual personalities and about their relationship!  Not to mention, it’s fun to hear each unique story! Since I love hearing these stories from my couples, I thought everyone might like to hear mine as well!

My husband and I met back in 2009, way back when the movie Avatar was in theaters, when we both were in high school. We were invited to a friend’s house for a party.  Now, you may be thinking that we went to stereotypical “cool” high school parties.  However, that was not the case.  We hung out with the band kids, which meant our parties were full of Rock Band, video games, and movies!

When I was a Sophomore and Casey was a Junior, I started hanging out with a mutual group of friends but I never actually met Casey until we were both invited to this friend’s house. Now again, you may be thinking we both showed up at this party, our eyes locked across the room, and it was love at first sight!  Although, that was not the case for us. We showed up at the party because we both liked other people at the time. Casey was just the friend that drove the guy I liked to the party and… I am not even sure if Casey knew who I was at that point!

In the following few months, Casey was dating one of my friends and I was dating one of Casey’s friends. Long story short, (too late! ) …. Any other Clue fans out there?  No, just me?  Ok, moving on!  Long story short, Casey and I both ended up single again.  We had seen each other at school, but never really got beyond friending each other on Facebook.

Then, one day back when random music quotes as Facebook statuses were still cool, I posted a lyric from a Vanessa Carlton song.   Casey saw my status, knew the lyric, and commented!  We started talking on that status and then on Facebook messenger.  When we started dating a month later, none of our friends even realized we knew each other!  I guess they didn’t know us well enough to see that we were perfect together.
